Marshall Good

"Howdy, Howdy, Howdy!" — that's how Marshall Good, the show's resident cowboy, always made his entrance. Played by Pat McMahon, Marshall Good wasn’t exactly the heroic cowboy kids might expect. Instead, he was a mooching, washed-up actor, forever down on his luck.
In the early years, he made a memorable entrance riding Meredith the Wonder Horse — a bicycle cleverly disguised with a molded plaster horse. Always broke and looking for a handout, Marshall Good was famous for begging for money, spare food ("Any extra Ladmo Bags lying around?"), or even a place to crash for the night. He once even asked the Arizona Humane Society if they had a spare enclosure where he could sleep!
With his ridiculous schemes — like writing off his pickup truck as a medical expense because he was "sick when he bought it" — Marshall Good became one of the show's most hilariously pathetic and endearing characters.
